Our services

Every pebble dash problem, fixed properly

Pebble dash is one of the most common wall finishes in Wales, and it does a hard job. It takes rain blown in off the Atlantic and the Bristol Channel, frost on Valleys hillsides and salt air along the coast. Most of the time it copes well, but once cracks open or the render loses its grip on the wall, water gets in and the damage speeds up.

We specialise in pebble dash. That means crack repairs, colour-matched patches, full re-dashing, careful removal, soft-wash cleaning, painting and modern render systems. Our team has decades of experience in home improvement and repair, and we work on private homes, rented houses and commercial premises across South and West Wales. Every job starts with a look at the wall and a straight answer about what it needs.

Commercial & landlords

Housing associations, landlords and business premises

We also work for landlords, letting agents, housing associations and business owners. From a single rented terrace to an estate of dashed semis, a row of shops or a workshop gable, we survey, prioritise and repair with clear written quotes and photos. Work is planned around tenants and trading hours, and sites are kept safe and tidy. See our commercial pebble dash repair page.

Know the signs

Five signs your pebble dash needs repair

  1. 01Cracks that stay dark after rain. If a crack looks wet long after the rain has stopped, water is getting behind the render and soaking into the wall underneath.
  2. 02A hollow sound when tapped. Sound render gives a solid knock. A dull, drummy sound means it has lost its grip on the wall and may eventually fall away.
  3. 03Stones falling off. Loose stones on paths and sills, or bald patches on the wall, suggest the top coat is breaking down and no longer holding the aggregate.
  4. 04Bulging or missing sections. Bulges show render pushing away from the wall. Missing sections leave brick or block exposed to rain and frost, so they need attention soon.
  5. 05Damp patches inside. Damp on the inside of an external wall can be caused by rain getting through cracked or hollow dash, though other causes also need ruling out.

How it works

Simple, from survey to finish

STEP 1

Survey

We visit, tap the render to find hollow areas, look at cracks and check gutters, sills and ground levels to understand what is causing the damage.

STEP 2

Quote

You get a clear written quote explaining what we recommend and why, with alternatives where they make sense, so you can decide without pressure.

STEP 3

Repair

We protect your property, cut back to sound render, rebuild the coats and apply the dash or finish in suitable weather, keeping the site tidy throughout.

STEP 4

Finish

We tidy the edges, clear away waste, walk round the work with you and explain any aftercare, such as leaving new render to cure before cleaning.

Why choose us

Pebble dash specialists, not general builders

Pebble dash is what we do

We are not general builders who occasionally render. Repairing, matching and replacing pebble dash is our focus, so we know how old dash behaves and what goes wrong with it.

Honest about matching

Old dash cannot always be matched perfectly. We sample your stones, show you a test patch and tell you plainly how close we can get before any work starts.

We look for the cause

A crack or blown patch usually has a reason, from a leaking gutter to a rusting lintel. We find it and deal with it, so the repair is not fighting the same problem.

Weather-aware work

Render needs dry weather above about 5°C to cure. We plan around the forecast and protect the work, and we will move a date rather than rush a job.

FAQs

Pebble dash questions, answered

Which areas do you cover?

We work across South and West Wales: Cardiff and the Vale, Newport and Gwent, the Valleys, Bridgend, Swansea Bay, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, and up to Cardigan Bay, Aberystwyth and Brecon. Our areas page lists the towns.

Can you match my existing pebble dash?

We get as close as possible by sampling your stones, blending aggregates and showing you a test patch. On old or weathered dash an exact match is not always achievable, and we will tell you honestly before we start.

Should I repair or re-dash?

If most of the render is sound, repairs are usually the best value. If large areas are hollow or cracked, re-dashing may be more sensible long term. We tap the whole wall and explain which option we would choose and why.

Do you give free quotes?

Yes. Call us on 07565 147 170 or use the contact form. We will arrange a visit, look at the wall and give you a written quote.

Can you work in winter?

Render needs dry weather above about 5°C to cure, so we avoid frost and heavy rain. Surveys, quotes and some small repairs can happen year round, while larger jobs are planned for suitable weather.

Do you work on commercial buildings?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, housing associations, shops and business premises, as well as homeowners. See our commercial page for how we approach those jobs.
